Bimmerfest - Where are the Xes?

Yesterday I was clicking thru some of the '08 & '09 Santa Barbara Bimmerfest youtube videos and saw only a glimpse of one or 2 X5s. Don't think I saw any X3s or X6s. I think I saw more non-BMW vehicles than X series! Is Bimmerfest a coupe and sedan event?

As it is coming up (assuming May like last year), I have thought about going. Love S.B. and it would be an easy excuse to drive over there. My X is begging for its first road trip (S. B. is about 8 or 9 hours away). Then again, the event gives me an impression of a different crowd then the feeling I get from those in here. Obviously, don't need an event for an excuse to go for a drive (especially to S.B.) but this just made my curiosity itch.

Anyone go to '08 and/or '09? What is your impression of the event, apparent absence of X series vehicles, and anything else worthy of mention?

Bimmerfest is filled of all sorts of BMWs of all models. It's a playground for anyone who loves BMWs as well. I've been there a few times, most of the cars there are modded or restored (for the older models) and it might not be fun for some attendees. I'll say this.. I am tempting on going but not sure if it'll be worth it since i'm going in an all stock X5 this year. last time I went my 335i coupe was modded

Well, the modding points in the direction of the feeling I got about a different crowd. Difficult to put my finger on it but I saw lots of intense modifications like trunks filled with huge speakers and neon glowing amps, fully carbon fibered hoods and trunks, etc. I was really surprised to see the notable absence of all X models.

The Tri-State annual X5 meet sounds more like my speed but I'm not gonna drive 2500 miles each way.

Actually Michelle, there is a good chance I may be in westchester sometime this summer. My entire family is there. June 5 is the question mark. But, if it looks like I will be there then, I will PM you to try to meet up with someone. I have been following your thread and know you are holding spaces for X only vehicles so my local rental (certainly will NOT be a BMW) will have to be left in another parking lot!

Guess I misunderstood; thought I read something about E46s

Yeah... you did. Opening up this event to the E46 crowd wouldn't work because there would be hundreds of them showing up... and there definitely isn't room for that.

I'll add you to the list of interested folks.
