Picking up my X535d tomorrow, any helpful suggestions?

Hey all, I've been looking at this forum a lot lately after ordering my X535d, and I like what i've seen. I'm new to purchasing BMW's. Ordered a 2010 X5 in Black Sapphire, with Black interior.

My Sales Person called me and told me my X5 is finally ready for pick up.

So I'm going in tomorrow to sign on the dotted line and take delivery, I already got a price with options negotiated when i placed the order.

I was just wondering if there is something i should know before i go to the Dealer tomorrow. Please advise.

Thanks,
Rocky.

Congrats on the new purchase. Your going to love the TORQUE! What options did you choose? As for advice just ask a lot of questions to your CA if you are unaware of certain things. Take lots of pics.

1. don't buy ANY of the crap the finance manager will try and sell you: paint protectant, sealant, clear bra, permanent wax, extended warranty, tire and wheel warranty, extended maintenance.... none of it.

2. Look for ANY possible defect in paint or interior, no matter how small. Once you leave the lot it is all your fault

3. Get a copy of the front and back of EVERY document they show you or that you sign.

Enjoy

Same discussion What to do on taking delivery? - bimmerfest - BMW Forums

I'm not is a d but there are many threads about diesels with many intelligent posts. If you have not already done so, you might search this forum (and bimmerfest.com X5) for threads with diesel in the subject.

A little late, but don't sign any document that is an arbitration agreement for disputes. My dealer tried to slip that in during the document signing. When I saw it I said, "I'm not signing that." And the Finance guy that does all the paperwork said, "No problem" and tossed it.

I guess I can't blame a guy for trying...

OK, now you got me worried; did I sign one of those without noticing when I picked up mine a few months ago?

Well... you'd need to look at all those papers you signed... you DID keep copies of EVERYTHING they showed you or you signed, front and back, right???

Depends on the dealer. I have no idea how many do this, but I suspect it's getting more common... sorta like stock brokers make people sign, except in the case of a car dealer, I can't imagine any of them would forgo a vehicle sale if a person refused to sign.

And in most cases, it won't make any difference, so if you did accidentally sign one I wouldn't be too worried -- few vehicle purchases ever reach the point where it would come into play.
