Took x in for brake noise and high drain of battery and they found

that the fan has to be replaced.. it was draining the battery. waiting now for new fan motor and will be installing new battery.. the rear brakes had to be lubed up to noise.

which fan???

and how does a fan motor turn on if the fan relay controller didn't turn it on? Perhaps it is integrated? Make sure you get a part number!

Sounds like some unnecessary warranty billing. With this battery issue being so wide spread across the BMW lineup, I think its just inherent in the software where there is something that is not going to sleep as it should be. BUT - you'l know if it goes away in time.

the dealer is waiting now for the fan.. they tell me it should arrive tomorrow.. ill let u know then

Got the X back today...invoice says

replaced cooling fan motor .2efe electric fan 2 ded power management. activivated cooling fan multiple times .. ok at first then slowly decreased in speed .. part # 17-42-7-533-558....also battery was changed
