Thanks but your X5 is still much better looking - one of the best ones I've seen here actually. Love the wheels and the quad tips!

Hmmm... I wonder if would I have holes everywhere if I removed the mudflaps?

No its not, because then it will not comply with the australian road standards. The mudflaps come standard in the plastic too so ifyou have any color other than black its a real eye sore. I got my color painted.

I did not know that they were mandatory by law... so I can't take them off?
Yeah because mine is blue black the mudflaps don't stick out too much... so you got yours painted body colour? Where? And how much, if you don't mind me asking. Would love to see pics.

They r mandatory to get the car registered or when u sell them. That is not to say you can't take them off during your ownership. The rear are mandatory not the front ones.

Got BMW to arrange them before I picked up the car and they charged me $300. Yes, ripped off but it still cheaper than my spending my time to get quotes when driving the car to the paint shop to get them painted. Bearing in mind $300 include the 33% LCT so that would make it worth about $230 which means you shuld be able to get them done directly by the painters for about $150 or less.

Further to my earlier post which included the pics, you will notice from one of the pics, the front mudflaps were not installed.

Thanks for the pics. Car looks great! I like alpine white as well but wife does not so we went with carbon black.

So any car paint/body shop would be able to do it? Won't the paint fade/flake off eventually? Do you find it's wearing well - in particular, the part inside the wheel wells?

(1) Yes, I would imagine so

(2) Yes, but it really depends on you use your car. I had another car (quite a few years ago) that had a similar mudflaps and they only started to flake off at the bottom because they scraped steep driveways and big speed bumps. And it took quite a few years before it started flaking off. So I am not too concerned here because the only off road I will be doing is on my lawn.

(3) inside is not painted, if that is what you meant?
