Juz got 20's, should i see oem 18's?
Hey everybody,
I got some 215 style 20" reps for my x5 with all seasons and I am wondering if I should sell my original OEM 18"s or keep them and when i sell my car in the future, sell them as part of the car. What are some of your experiences in selling your car with reps? Appreciate your input. Thanks. |

Do you ever get snow in Boston? If you do i would keep the 18s

I agree. I put wintertires on the 18's. We do not get a lot of snow over here (maybe 1 week a year) but in cold weather and harsh rains they work very well too..

i dont plan on using them for the winter as I dont want to keep swapping tires and that is the reason why i invested in Nokian WRG2's to use all year round. I'm more concerned about the resell value of the car itself when I do eventually sell it.

Suppose it depends on who you are selling it to. I wouldn't buy an x5 with ANY kind of 20s on personally but the fact the rims were non genuine ones wouldn't put me off if they were good quality.

^ agree with London Lad, some buyers might be picky and say they only want OEM wheels regardless of diameter.

I agree with Phattbam.. I wouldn't buy a car without the OEM wheels..

You should keep your 18's in case you ever sell/trade it.
You can get away with all seasons in Boston - I use my 19"s for this (have 21's for the summer). The issue is tire width, stopping distance and road quality. You'll probably find it a little slippery with 20's when it is cold and slushy. Although it's a little work to switch, as long as they are already mounted, it really isn't much work or cost to switch winter/summer.
