Loud popping sounds and air sounds: 09 x5

Just back from dealer: "couldn't duplicate" of course. Really weird problem with x5 yesterday. Car was parked, when I unlocked and opened door there were loud popping sounds (just like popcorn) and a loud "whish" sounding like air in area of driver's front air vents. There was only a slight amount of air coming out of the vents. I tried turning off/on all air settings, heater, etc. I didn't smell anything hot or burning. Checked to make sure delayed ventilation wasn't on. Started car, noise then got even louder. Sound was so loud (over bluetooth) I couldn't hear my husband on iphone. Drove about a mile and then stopped car completely. Sounds still continued. As soon as I called dealer, the sounds stopped! The sounds had lasted about 20 minutes. Today dealer checked all electrical systems, opened and closed front door a number of times, drove it and couldn't duplicate the symptoms. of course.

Anyone ever heard of this problem? Thanks.

Next time take you phone and shoot video with sound. Seriously. You got an iphone, should be simple!

I had a very infrequent failure with a nav unit on another BMW- shot a video, my SA agreed it was adequate documentation that it was bad- new nav computer.
