Long run in the D

Nashville to just outside of Kansas City. Fully loaded with cargo.
500 miles
69.1 mph
27.3 mpg

Not as good of mileage as I expected but still damn good for a 5000 lb SUV, plus the 1000 lbs of extra people and gear probably hurt a little.

1,000 lbs of gear would have made a significant difference.

That's about what I got traveling from Chicago to Phoenix and back this Winter... 27-28 mpg. Two people, lightly loaded, 70-75 mph most of the way.

My experience is that the mpg does fall off rather rapidly once you get over 60-65 mph.

GoVols,
A 70 mph avg. with that load and mpg, is pretty damn good, imo.

Agree. The D seems to be able to run 60 at idle.

Agree. I'm not complaining but just expected it to be higher since I was nursing the pedal, had cruise set at 74 except through St Louis where it was set at 60, and I only stopped once, at a rest area to take a leak.

Plus, I dropped my wife off at the airport this morning and they have radar signs warning you how fast you're going. The X's speedometer is 4 mph higher than actual speed so I was really going 70 and 56.
