1000 Entry Limit on Phonebook

There appears to be a limit of 1000 contacts in the bluetooth phonebook on the new iDrive.

Has anyone else run into this limit and found a way around it?
This is a real bummer when you have >1200 entries

The limit does not appear to be documented by BMW anywhere I can find. Very frustrated.

I had this issue. It would only allow me to use the phonebook and voice recognition up to the letter "P". I'm not sure if that's 1000, but I don't think there was a way to get it to work in the idrive. You can use your phone to dial and it would still sync to the idrive for others that were passed the cutoff.

Alternatively, I deleted some names and now I can call Zephyr Zegan without an issue through voice command.

A thousand+ phone contacts?!
Damn...I may have known 1000+ people
over my 62 yrs on the planet, but I would
have no need for ever calling that "1000".

Even when I was working I don't think I
sent out over 600 holiday cards, incl biz & personal.

I have a couple dozen phone numbers in my un-smart phone...

the 1000 limit is documented by BMW, i am the one who requested the document to be published after i encountered a client with over 2000 contacts in his blackberry. A solution was being "worked on" at the time, which was over 1 year ago.

If it is a blackberry you can tag a grouping of names to be synched via bluetooth (it's an option under the blue tooth settings). You would need to add each of the specific contacts to that group (a bit of a pain) but you can reduce the number. I have observed every phone number under one person's name becomes a separate entry in the iDrive. So, for example one person with two home, two work and one cell becomes 5 entries on the iDrive.

I'm glad to hear BMW has documented this limitation, but can you tell us where please? Is there an opportunity to follow-up with BMW from a year ago?
