Weird comfort access behavior
Also happens when I could be sitting in the driver seat, car on, key in my pocket and someone else opens the tailgate I am then slammed with gongs and warnings that the key is not detected and after the tailgate is closed the warnings disappear so I figure the key is detected again. I have never been warned that the battery is low, I just replaced it to see if it would help with this behavior and it didn't. I'm not sure what this sounds like if its a key issue or an antenna issue. I dont have any problems getting into the car or locking it. Doesn't make sense to me since I have noticed that I have to be pretty far away from the car with the door closed while the engine is running for the key not detected warning to come up. Does it sound like an antenna issue or a key issue?

never seen it. 2008 w/o auto tailgate option. maybe you have the remote closer option?
my key warning will bug a bit if i start the truck and walk away with the key but it is inconsistent. i did have the TCU replaced about a year ago. everything was going wonky prior to the replacement. |

never seen this problem but I don't sit in the seat while the tailgate is open either... though today I was just picking up the wife and as she got in, it said my key was not detected... I was sitting there the whole time with it in my pocket and the engine running. It freaks from time to time, but it goes away quickly... nothing like what you're seeing.

I dont have the auto tailgate option, which I'm not sure why I have the premium pack.
The problem is pretty inconsistent I have noticed so it wouldn't be any use to bring it to the dealer until it is happening consistently if it ever does... I can start the car no problem when I'm just reaching my foot into the car and tapping the start button and running inside to grab a last minute thing before I am off to school, remote is barley in the vehicle and it will start right up. However it's a bit quirky with with tailgate open. Makes no sense that I can start the car when the key is barley inside, but I cant when I am physically in the drivers seat with key in pocket and tailgate open.

I am only in the driver seat when the tailgate is open only because it is usually someone is loading something into the back and then I drive off. For example the last time this happened not to long ago, went to the airport to pick up my parents, get there, stop, unlock the tailgate, tailgate is open they are loading luggage and then while they are still loading up I get the key not detected message and it wont go away for a good 3-5 minutes. Key never left the vehicle so I do not see why it isn't quickly re detected if it was just freaking out for a quick second. When ever I am loading something up in the back I like to get the car started up for a minute or two and as I run back inside the house to grab the last thing inside I start the car or rather try to. Tailgate still left open, I hop in set my foot on the brake and try and start and then I am faced with it not starting usually I dont want to even bother to keep trying to so I just put the key in the ignition lock and it will always start up right away whether or not the tailgate is open.
