2011 X50 vs my 2007 X5 4.8 - Photos

Just happened upon a 2011 at my local dealer that was the same color. Couldn't resist the opportunity to park alongside it and take a few pics.

I was honestly torn between which looked better. For me, I liked the more "rugged" look of the 2007 with the black bumpers. Plus, I think the 2011 bumpers will scratch and get marked alot easier than the prior years.

I'm guessing that if you showed both cars to someone who had no prior X5 knowledge, it would be a toss up.

Just my opinion though.

^^ Good catch. I am waiting to see how many members here switch the taillights to facelift and how many do the full front facelift. Seen quite a few E53 members do facelift on their pre-facelift X5s. I know it will happen with E70 too.

I don't think there will be a single 'full frontal' change. Look at the fender to bumper parting line change.

I agree. Looks like to make the change you need to replace the front quarter panels. If you have that much money to waste, buy a 2011.

I like the rear tail lights and will probably do the swap eventually. Should just be plug and play? Anyone else plan to do it? Let see how much the rear lights going to cost.

2011 looks way better.

Less plastic, ftw. Black plastic looks like sh*t, on non-black X5's.

I think both look nice. However, I think the 2010 looks more rugged, more SUV-like. The 2011 looks sportier and more for the road....like the Cayenne.

+1

What's so special about the new tail lights? Can't really tell the difference.

You have to remember that the e53 has always had painted rear bumpers. Personally, I think the black rear bumpers look too much like the old ML's when they first came out--looks kind of cheap plus they can fade over time if not taken care of. Though on black colors the black bumpers aren't too bad.
