HUD Update ?

My 2009 35d went into the dealer on Monday to have the auto mode of the e-brake looked at again. It has a mind all of its own.

In any case, the car had two open campaigns for it. One specific to the diesel engine, and another I don't recall.

Both did require software updates though.

On getting the car back, I noticed straight away that the HUD has changed, unless its my imagination. I noticed that the font used have appeared to change ... The fonts used for speed seem to be bigger, and the fonts used for navigation road names seemed smaller to accomodate more characters. Also, I needed to increase the HUD brightness from its default setting to match what it looked like prior to the update.

Has anyone else noticed any changes?

Layout has changed a bit too with cruise speed placed right above the mph text. Cruise speed changes color too depending on if the cruise is active or not, and cruise speed has being set.

These changes must have being done with the software update I had done last week.

My main concern though is that the HUD seems overall dimmer, and I've had to crank up the brightness in idrive so it looks like it did before the update.

HUD question

Can you tell me if when cruise is deactivated by either brake or by stalk. Does the speed you originally set cruise at still appear in the HUD but in a different colour? I have a Mar/09 and when cruise is deactivated. no speed is shown at all of previous setting, but noticed this on a 5 series loner before I purchased mine.

My 08 was in for service about a week ago. They did some software updates which resulted in the resetting of all my fob settings (seats, mirrors, wheel) and idrive settings, including resetting HUD brightness to default and position to default. I have not noticed any change in the font used for HUD information. However, this morning I did use the cruise control and noticed for the first time that when hitting the brake and disengaging the cruise control the cruise speed changes from green to orange. That is showing what the resume speed will be if you choose resume. I guess there has been some updates.

I have HUD on my 2010 35d (Feb delivery) and it shows the cruise control speed for a few seconds after it's engaged. Then it just shows a green cruise control icon. I've often wished it would continue displaying the set speed. If this is the case, I'm going to like this update.

The current version of the HUD shows the set speed if it's different from the vehicle speed. Once the vehicle synchronizes with the set speed, only the actual speed is displayed, but since this IS the set speed, I don't see the problem...

I'm pretty certain the font used for nav street names is smaller than it used to be, but maybe I'm wrong.
