How Important Is The Cold Weather Pkg?
I wanted the CWP for the heated rear seats and headlight washers for the trips to the snow. I assume you don't get either of these options if you don't order the pkg.
Maybe its not even worth the $1k for those of us living in SoCal who only see the snow a couple times a year and other than that, the temperature rarely gets below mid-50s (which in these parts is cause for major panic and headline news stories). ![]() Would you get CPW living here? TIA |

I ordered the CWP and will use most of the features except the headlight washer feature. Possibly during a snow trip to the mountains driving at night. I also ordered NAV even though I know where I'm going most of the time. It will be useful on a road trip. 3rd row seats...useful on rare occasions the whole family loads up for a night out. Some options will not be used much, but are nice to have...plus add value to the vehicle should you decide to sell.

I have to disagree about adding value. Aside from the sport package and maybe comfort package and nav. Most smaller options will not "add value" when it comes time to resell.

1) Heated front seats...Yes...will use regularly. 2) Heated steering wheel...Yes...will use regularly 3) Headlight washers...I'm sure some night drivers back east may find these useful in spraying off the salt and grime during winter driving...especially in Vermont and New Hampshire during mud season with the dirt roads...(ok that accounts for .0001% of us )For MY2010, this package had heated rear seats and a ski bag. HRS are a plus for the kids...will use them regularly. Ski bag??? No opinion. Anyway, if you buy the vehicle at a fixed price over invoice, then you really pay invoice for the package...not full retail. It's worth the $$$ to me...rather just have a package than itemize everything. |

My wife liked the heated seats when we were up in Mammoth and Park City, but I can't say I think it's something I'd specifically add on. if it's there, fine, but I don't know that I'd get $1000 worth out of it. I'd just as soon hang twin IPADs of the head rests for 1K

Ive never been able to tell that the headlight washers actually work in the first place and it snowed all winter here. If I had to buy all over again, I would just get the heated front seats and forget the rest of the package.

Heated steering wheel is my favorite part of the CWP. There's nothing worse than holding a cold rock for 30 minutes in the morning. I've yet to find gloves that keep my hands warm that I'd want to wear while driving. I have heated steering wheel in my 5er and hate driving the e53 X5 in the winter since it just has heated seats.
In Boston, there is plenty of salt on the road in the winter and it really does cloud up the lights a lot. If we were able to see the dirt that was washed off each time the headlight washers kicked in, we'd be more appreciative (like our windshield washers).

I live in CA and used heated seats ALL THE TIME. I think of it as a giant heating pad for a back that's been thrashed by years of ski bumming and abuse.
I really don't see it as a 'cold weather' item or a snow item... even with temps in the 60s or 70s, a warm seat with cool fresh air to breath is mighty nice. Rear seats too. I've got heated seats in 5 of my 6 vehicles... ![]() A |
