2008 nav - Trapster and RadarActive

SignalActive's Photos | Facebook
Those who have not followed the progress of the beta version of this device can at least get an idea about what is planned for those of us with V1s.

I will be running both a V1 and RL during a 4K run this summer but sorely wish Trapster could be integrated into the 2008 nav. As I don't see that happening and since I don't have space for a Garmin due to running two detectors, I have thought about signing up for the beta of this V1/iPhone device.

My primary question about the configuration from RadarActive is about any risk to the X5. Any advice?

There's not much info on RadarActive. Not sure why it would impact the car any more than hard-wiring a V1.

Looks interesting though. Any idea how it connects to the V1?

Thanks.
Found the threads got a bit tiresome though -- all the squabbling about iPhone vs. Droid instead of staying on topic.

Was pleased to see the developer's note that it will work with the V1 remote too. It would be interesting to see if Valentine starts paying attention to this and buys the company; is developing a competing product; etc.

As much as I like the V1, it is in need of an upgrade I really want to be able to block the signal from the Audi's (that should be an easy upgrade for Valentine to block that continuous signal), have GPS memory to block certain locations (like the old age home that I drive by each day), etc.

Epacy is an unknown quantity at this point
I guess I am not getting why this is such a huge deal. What is the functionality this allows or is made for?

I think the basic concept with the V1 device is that unlike Trapster where data is hard to come by about live police that you can get readings from all the V1s going off while you are driving with certain parameters.

The company is located in San Francisco which is where they are beta testing. At one point they were gong to let me try it out but I don't want to do anything that would challenge my warranty. I thought about hard-wiring my V1 and don't remember what the dealer told me about such but now I am switching to running both the RL and V1 together despite breaking a cardinal role of RDs.

This thread comments on interference from one detector to another based on field tests: Radar Detector Reaction Time Test - Escort Radar Forum
