Just took another look at the order list and it appears that you can get 19s or 20s in the 50i for the same sports package price of $2200. So only $865 (invoice) extra for the 20s on the 35i/35d. Your sales adviser would have the authoritative answer on that.
See attached PDFs for the 2011 wheel options and price lists (invoice & retail). 20" tires: 275/40 R20 front and 315/35 R20 rear ($2k to replace)

So you might want to rethink your litmus test.... I actually have the Nappa dash with Black Nevada perforated leather (ZAV). As far as your questions: 1)2LM 20" style 336 are a $950 upgrade (invoice is 865). The current builds of the 2011 X5s with 20" rims have Dunlop SP Sport Maxx DSST RunOnFlat (Max Performance Summer) tires. 2)Self leveling rear suspension is standard in the 50i regardless of whether you have adaptive drive or not is my understanding. In the other models, you had to have 3rd row to get it. 3)ZAV automatically upgrades the seats to multi-contour seats with either of the 2 perforated Nevada choices, adding the ZAP just means that you won't be double charged for them. You won't be getting sport seats. On the other hand if you took the ZAV out, and got the ZAP, for the upgraded price you can get multi-contour (456) seats in lieu pf the sport seats. This would only give you the Nappa colors as the only choices and in the process make you pay $2400 (invoice is 2185). Hope that helps, and goodluck Last edited by arjuno; 05-25-2010 at 12:05 AM. |

Yes I meant to say the 35i Sports Activity trim level; that's what I got.

Arjuno, Thanks for all that detail info on my questions and your insight to my litmus test. I actually would like to order the Nappa dash with black Nevada perforated leather, so this is good news.
The 336 wheel is nice, but not great in my opinion, the reviews of Dunlop SP Sport Maxx DSST RunOnFlat tires are downright terrible. Seems like most people dislike these tires on their 20" rims. if I had my choice I'd buy my 2011 X5 with the cheapest rim and tire combo and change them out with something much better. However, I do want those extend wheel flairs. so I think that means I need to order the 20" wheels or can I still get that with 19" wheels? I am ordering (ZAP) sport activity package. |

Is there ANY way to get the extended fenders as an option or post purchase if you go with the 19" wheels?

CarbonX5, I'm actually switching out my RFTs for non-RFTs along with an alignment to adjust the camber/toe. I won't even notice the performance loss, gain much better tread wear, and get much better ride quality in the switch. |

I went back to the dealership and saw my first 2011 X5 with the 20" 336 wheels (they are a very nice looking rim) but then I noticed they had the cheaper, noisier, rough riding Bridgestone tires on them?!? I stated to my CA I thought the current builds of the 2011 X5s with 20" rims come with the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx DSST RFT? Answer from the CA: "We take what ever they send us, we have no control on which brand tires get place on new cars". I looked at the ground in dismay, then double check my surroundings to make certain I didn't accidentally drive on the KIA dealership, Nope the sign says BMW. I just can't believe it....how can a car company like BMW not care about what tires their customers get? I can not think of a greater component item that would have the biggest effect on overall handling, comfort, and control then the tires on the car.
Arjuno, tell me more about the non-RTFs you are using and why you are changing the alignment to adjust the camber/toe? Are you lowering the X5? |
