Thanks for all the contact names and suggestions. I went to another dealership this weekend (BMW Mountain View), I still didn't find any CA that I would call an expert in the X5 ordering process. My litmus test question for this skill set is to point to the X5M inside the show room, tell them how much I like the Napa leather dash mixed with Nevada leather seats and how I would like to order this exact combination for my 2011 X5 50i, if they say 'no problem sir, I be glad to order that for you', I run away fast. (Cuz, that is not a valid build option for 2011 X5 50i, and they should know better). If they say 'sorry sir that would not be possible in your base model car choice'. Now we are talking and I chat with them more.

So enough of my whining about that, the good news is that I pretty much figured out want I'm going to order on my own and I think I have figured out most all of package codes and option code to use, Thanks to Xoutpost and the wonderful search tool. But, I do have a few questions....

First, here are some details on where I'm headed with my order.

2011 X5 xDrive50i, with every package (ZAP, ZCW, ZPP, ZPS, ZRC, and ZAV) with the exception of M-sport package (ZMP). I'm one of few people that does not like the new 2011 M-sport look, my plan to add the BMW LCI performance parts fairings to 50i base model to give it more of that classic X5 4.6is look that I have always enjoyed. I am adding the 2VA -adaptive drive to get the M-sport handling.

Questions:

1) I plan to go with the 20" 336 wheels (which I think come with no extra charge?) exactly what kind of tires will I be getting with those wheels?
2) With the options I have listed, am I getting the self-levelling with pneumatic rear suspension or is that removed with adaptive drive option I had added separately?
3) The seats are important to me, not clear on what I'm really getting. ZAP adds Sport seat, and ZAV makes them Multi-contour. are seats I'm getting both Sport and Multi-contour? or is this an OR thing.
No the 20s are extra---I think like $950.

Just took another look at the order list and it appears that you can get 19s or 20s in the 50i for the same sports package price of $2200. So only $865 (invoice) extra for the 20s on the 35i/35d. Your sales adviser would have the authoritative answer on that.

See attached PDFs for the 2011 wheel options and price lists (invoice & retail).

20" tires: 275/40 R20 front and 315/35 R20 rear ($2k to replace)

Your PDFs didn't pull up for me. The previous option list found in the LCI sticky (above) have the 20's as like $950 extra from what I remember on the 50i when ordering the Sports Package. And the '07-'10 e70s are the same way--you pay extra for the 20"s on top of the Sports Package.

What you're saying makes sense to me but does indicate that the official BMW docs are incorrect.

Sorry to do this to you, but take a look at the 50i ordering guide. 4M5 (Nappa leather dash) can be ordered with Nevada leather seats, whether they are perforated or the regular seats as a $1900 option. If you decide to go with Nappa leather seats, the dash is included in the price of the package.

So you might want to rethink your litmus test.... I actually have the Nappa dash with Black Nevada perforated leather (ZAV).

As far as your questions:

1)2LM 20" style 336 are a $950 upgrade (invoice is 865). The current builds of the 2011 X5s with 20" rims have Dunlop SP Sport Maxx DSST RunOnFlat (Max Performance Summer) tires.

2)Self leveling rear suspension is standard in the 50i regardless of whether you have adaptive drive or not is my understanding. In the other models, you had to have 3rd row to get it.

3)ZAV automatically upgrades the seats to multi-contour seats with either of the 2 perforated Nevada choices, adding the ZAP just means that you won't be double charged for them. You won't be getting sport seats. On the other hand if you took the ZAV out, and got the ZAP, for the upgraded price you can get multi-contour (456) seats in lieu pf the sport seats. This would only give you the Nappa colors as the only choices and in the process make you pay $2400 (invoice is 2185).

Hope that helps, and goodluck

The X5 35i Sports Activity trim level comes with the sports activity package and the 20s standard.

Of course the X5M has 20s stock.
Yes I meant to say the 35i Sports Activity trim level; that's what I got.

Arjuno, Thanks for all that detail info on my questions and your insight to my litmus test. I actually would like to order the Nappa dash with black Nevada perforated leather, so this is good news.

The 336 wheel is nice, but not great in my opinion, the reviews of Dunlop SP Sport Maxx DSST RunOnFlat tires are downright terrible. Seems like most people dislike these tires on their 20" rims. if I had my choice I'd buy my 2011 X5 with the cheapest rim and tire combo and change them out with something much better. However, I do want those extend wheel flairs. so I think that means I need to order the 20" wheels or can I still get that with 19" wheels? I am ordering (ZAP) sport activity package.

Is there ANY way to get the extended fenders as an option or post purchase if you go with the 19" wheels?

I'm actually not sure on this, maybe someone else with ZAP and 19" rims can respond.

CarbonX5, I'm actually switching out my RFTs for non-RFTs along with an alignment to adjust the camber/toe. I won't even notice the performance loss, gain much better tread wear, and get much better ride quality in the switch.

I went back to the dealership and saw my first 2011 X5 with the 20" 336 wheels (they are a very nice looking rim) but then I noticed they had the cheaper, noisier, rough riding Bridgestone tires on them?!? I stated to my CA I thought the current builds of the 2011 X5s with 20" rims come with the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx DSST RFT? Answer from the CA: "We take what ever they send us, we have no control on which brand tires get place on new cars". I looked at the ground in dismay, then double check my surroundings to make certain I didn't accidentally drive on the KIA dealership, Nope the sign says BMW. I just can't believe it....how can a car company like BMW not care about what tires their customers get? I can not think of a greater component item that would have the biggest effect on overall handling, comfort, and control then the tires on the car.

Arjuno, tell me more about the non-RTFs you are using and why you are changing the alignment to adjust the camber/toe? Are you lowering the X5?
