Fuel Economy LCI 3.0D (Aus spec)

I am getting 8.5l/100kms open road and about 11.5l/100kms around town.

This is a long way off BMWs claimed 7.4l/100kms

Car has done 3500kms

What is everyone else getting?

Can i expect the fuel economy to get a bit better as the engine runs

I am in Australia with 40d with 3000 Kms on clock. 70% highway driving but still only achieve 9.2L/100kms vs claimed 7.5. I am actually very happy with this real world result as the test vehicles used for fuel economy ratings run light weight kit and have every function in car turned off. I could never sacrifice my heavy 20" wheels, electric seats, climate control etc etc. In a real world vehicle spec 10-15% above claimed is fairly normal.

I have a E70 pre-LCI 3.0d, can achieve 11-12L/100km around town, 9-10l/100km on highway.

You should able to get better fuel economy with the new 8 speed gearbox and extra power/torque on the new diesel engine.

Not quite sure what you are driving, but my X5 weighs a bit more than that (unfortunately)

It stacks up on those figures. Not much difference around town where the weight and stop start is the issue, then when cruising getting gains of about 1l/100kms probably due to longer gearing in 8th gear
