warranty worries

Ok, haven't been on here in a while but I'm 20K away from needing to look for extended warranty. I've searched the threads for answers but what I'm finding is from 2005. Is there any advice ya'll could offer me? Should I think about contacting someone other than a BMW dealer? Is there anything else I should know regarding warranties and what to expect from the dealerships? I value the advice I read on here because ya'll are so knowledgable. Thanks!!!

There are pages of threads on topic; many seem to be partial to the current official BMW dlr deal, or Warranty Direct & Fidelity. I had WD, much less expensive back in '05;
had zero problems with them, but never got my buy-in price "covered" as repairs were few. Fidelity comes up on the Jukebox frequently, too. I have no dog in the hunt...

Long Thread on Warranties and pricing; see later pages:

If this isnt't enough, plug Extended Warranty into Search and do some scrolling;
pages of threads on topic.

BMW now offers their own extended warranties. bimmerfest has a few threads in "ask a dealer"

I like these since BMW will always be around (no issues with a flaky 3rd party going BK) and you can use a dealer seamlessly.

You need to buy these within 45 months or 45k miles of purchase.

Thanks for all the info guys. I'm going to call my local dealership and also other dealerships in three different states because we will be moving before I would need to get extended warranty. I wonder if they offer a break for the military? LOL (No need to answer that one---I already know they won't!)

Over on bimmerfest some of the dealers seem to be open to giving quotes 'remotely'. They've posted the MSRP on the BMW warranties over there as well.

Oh, this part is important: Call and speak to the Finance Manager- not a front line sales guy. The salesguy really doesnt want to sell them, but this is what the finance manager does all day- plus they will recognize that you have options and can just go down the list... a sharp FM can figure "what the heck, I can make a few hundred for 20 minutes of work".
