Add iPod and HD Radio to a 2008 X5 4.8i
Hi All,
I just bought a 2008 X5 and I love it! Big difference from my little 330i. The car has Sirius, Premium Sound (With 6 DVD changer in the glove box), CD in the Dash and Aux input. I'd like to Add HD Radio and the iPod adapter but am confused by some of the posts I've found. First, HD Radio: Is the HD radio part of the CCC computer in the Dash or is it another module that goes in the back by the Sirius radio? I've looked and can't find anything about adding HD Radio. Secondly, the iPod Adapter: I've read that I would have to give up the 6 Disc CD Changer to add the iPod adapter, but does this mean the 6 DVD changer in the Glove Box or is there another CD Changer that goes in the back? Thanks for your help, X2K |

For ccc based idrive vehicles the hd radio receiver is a separate module located in the trunk. Unfortunately BMW do not offer a retrofit for this, which means you won't be able to add it.
BMW does offer two levels of iPod interface. One does replace the cd/DVD changer. The other one is known as the USB interface that will not only work with the iPod but other USB devices. This should be available at your dealer. Price will depend on if you have BMW assist, as a USB hub is located in that module. |
