Changing from E53 to E70
I was recently in an accident in my 2002 E53 3.0 X5. The other party was at fault, no one was hurt, and the insurance is going to deem it a total loss. We're working out details but anywhere from 10k to 14k I believe. I am looking at CPO'd e70 X5's and was curious if there was anyhing I should avoid? I.e. Do the '07 models have more issues than later ones? Do the 8 cyl. have more problems then the 6 like the E53? Thanks!

Hello,
I think I have decided on an '07 CPO. Any major things I should look for or consider? Thanks, - B

Yes, get an independent PPI inspection. DO NOT rely on the CPO for any protection whatsoever. It is an extended warranty and THAT ALL.
Transmissions are a point of concern. Prior accidents, repairs, issues not fully fixed, etc, are always concerns. Demand a copy of the BMW Service history (without any prior owners names, just visits and service codes). Did the insurance add the tax, title and other fees on top of the agreed upon value? They owe you for any costs to get a new vehicle- including the tax you will pay and the fees to license..... |
