M Steering Wheel and Heat

I thought I remember reading on here that you can't get both.

While at the dealership yesterday I sat in an X5M and snapped these shots. Is the M wheel and heat only available on the M? Or does heat come with every M wheel when ordered with the X5?

... OOps, sorry for the large photo size.. I guess the new iPhone 4 has VERY large files..

Just the M, the wheel is different as it has paddles too.

However you can get the M-performance wheel which has heat, but I don't know of anyone who has actually fitted one - it would be interesting to see if it could be retrofitted to an M-Sport. See the link below.

The SE doesn't have the M Steering wheel though, only the M-sport does. And of course the X5M has the wheel above!

I love the heated steering wheel as well, and it is the singular reason why my next X5 won't be a M-sport.

Anyone know if the heated X5M steering wheel can be retro fitted if you don't currently have a heated steering wheel?

I'm in exactly the same situation...and very disappointed in BMW on this point. I wanted the M-sport package on the 2011 X5 35i I am currently spec'ing and was prepared to pay the premium until I found out it deleted the heated steering wheel. Having lived with it on my current X5 I would not purchase another w/o it.

When I bought my current 2005 X5 4.4 with the sport package BMW had finally added the heat function to the sport wheel. I'm surprised this continues to be a hit and miss proposition.

I sat down with my sales guy and he made some calls about the ///M steering wheel with the MSport option with the Cold weather package.

The build sheet shows that the MSport package with the cold weather package is reduced by $750 which would be the price reduction by not having the heated steering wheel. The ///M steering wheel which comes with the MSport package does not have heat but the X5M steering wheel is heated and it has the shifting paddles.

Im getting an Xdrive 50i with M Sport. I currently have an 08' with the heated stearing wheel, and to tell u the truth, its not that great. I think the padding and look of the M=Sport steering wheel greatly outweighs the heated function. Just my opinion

I hate to break this to you but the MSport wheel does NOT have the shifting paddles. It is strictly a different sport steering wheel (believe better leather and a //M emblem) and is not the same as the X5M. . If it did have the shifting paddles this thread would not have been started because the steering wheel in the X5M (which I believe your are referencing) DOES have the heated option and the shifting paddles. I had my sales guy exhaust all channels and every response back now is the same. No heated MSport steering wheel, No shifting paddles. What kills me is the X6 has shifting paddles option but not the X5. Heck are these cars basically the exact same from the Bpillar forware with the exception of the bumper??

I hate to break it to you, but the 2013 X5 with ZMP (M-Sport) pkg *does* have shifter paddles on the 7XA wheel (but not I believe the 710 wheel) - I have one sitting in my driveway, and despite the order guide claiming that the heated wheel option (248) could not be ordered in conjunction with 7AX it appears as though some members may have succeeded in ordering such!

p.s
7XA != 710 != wheel on X5M AFIAK
