Any official test results on X5 50i launch 0-60 times?

The BMW USA website doesn't seem to have any numbers, nor have I seen any C&D or other reviews yet! Under model highlights it says the new 5.0 V8TT has 400Hp... then under 'Performance and Efficiency' it says 440Hp. Is this a typo on their own website??

I drove the 5.0 a couple of days ago and it's definately faster than my 4.8i!

BMW said 0-60 I believe in 5.3 from the early press releases though I haven't seen any Car and Driver, etc, tests like you said yet. It hauls a$$ that's for sure I think I read it will match the 335i in 0-60.

Well didn't BMW say the new 35i matches the 0-60 of the old 4.8i?

If BMW says 5.3sec, I'm sure a real life tests will yield sub 5.0sec times! Motor Trend rated the Mustang GT between 4.9 and 5.1sec. Not that I would ever buy one! But imagine smoking a GT or a 335i in a SUV... and it's not even an ///M!

I took out an M3 with my 4.8i but that was because of an in-experienced driver! While he was busy trying to change gears, I had mine in sport mode with my foot down!

So now it's going to be a tough choice between upgrading to the 5.0 or the X5M. BMW did the same thing between the 550i and the M5 and probably the 335i and the M3 as well!

There have been multiple references to the current V8 as a 5.0. Just so you know the newest engine trim designation is 50i, not 5.0i and 50i doesn't stand for 5.0 liters of displacement, hence it is not a 5.0, it is a 4.4L V8. The engine would more accurately be referred to as the 50i or 4.4TT if you want to use abbreviations. I think BMW using this designation only adds confusion but I'm sure they figure that if the number (numerical designation) decreased from the outgoing model, then folks would think that there was a downgrade in the powerplant which is definitely not the case.

And this brings up an interesting point. The XM5 is also a 4.4 liter - go figure!

You are absolutely correct. Thanks for clearing that up! Now...really how fast is the 50i??

Shouldn't the 0-60 be the same as the x6 4.4???
