I think most if not all sunroof glass gets bad water spots like that simply because it is horizontal and water dries on it like that. Maybe try some bathroom cleaners that get water spots from shower door glass, or a polish. Then a good coat of wax on the glass once spots removed to help protect from future spots wouldn't be a bad idea.

My wife suggested scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner this morning. It worked great.

CLR would do the trick, it works on our work vehicles that are constantly bombarded with hard water deposits and not dried/windex every time.

(a) use a rag dampened with it, so none runs onto the paint or trim, and (b) do it just before I washed the vehicle, using a lot of water to ensure it is all rinsed away. While it would involve more "scrubbing" work, vinegar would also probably work well, with less risk. |

You don't need to use any of those chemicals that might do damage, rubbing alcohol will take them off, then just wax the area.
