Thinking of getting a certified pre-owned X5

I’ve been thinking of getting a X5. A new one is just too much money. I’m hoping to spend around 40K on one. I plan on trading in a 2007 GS350 with 20K miles.

I was wondering what the differences are between a 2007/2008/2009 and 2010 X5.

I’d love to get a 2010, but a 2009 is much cheaper. I’ve heard the idrive is much better in the 2010, is that the case? Does it suck so bad in the 2009 that I would regret it?

I really don’t know much about the X5 other then I like how it looks, I need to get an SUV, and BMW’s are fun to drive.
