Extended Fender Flares on 18" wheels

I am looking for any picture or your opinion on using stock 18” rims (210) with extended fender flares. This would be on my winter setup, which I use for about 5 months every year. Someone have mentioned on the forum that 18” will look odd with extended flares, since they are intended for 20”+ wheels.
I am not too excited about using wheel spacers as I do not know how they may affect the car performance and safety long term.
Can anyone comment on running 18” wheels with extended fender flares during winter or even all-year-around?

I have this setup but no pictures. The wheel wells certainly look like they're missing something but safety first

^ If the 19s run 255s also I will assume offsets are the same as 18" wheels.

I have the 18s for winter and I never think it looks too bad until I put the 20s back on. Then it's bad ass

I had it on my car before I put on my 20's.... it looked ok, worse in pictures but ok in real life. There's someone on here who has it on their 35d but can't remember the name.

Anyone have pics of their aftermarket 18" winter set-up, such as those available through TireRack? I'm debating which rim would look the best.
