P013C error code after exhaust install

I had magnaflows installed last week and now the CEL came on with P013c code. I looked up online and it says something about O2 bank 1 sensor. Anyone had this code before? Any ideas? Thanks

Edwin

There are 02 sensors before and after the cats, depending on which model you have, you either will have 1 or 2 cats, so either 2 or 4 sensors, not sure which one bank 1 is, but sounds like one of the sensors is faulting, maybe the plug was knocked loose or the wire was damaged when they where cutting. I would wait until it cools off and take a good look under the car and see if you can see any damage - cat's are up near the front just where the pipes come down under the car from the engine.

Hey Edwin-

I am not too familiar with BMW codes for the X5, but I'd look at the sensors mis-connected (pre and post cat wires switched?). P013C seems that it might be 'pre cat O2 changing too slowly'. The post cat sensor WILL change more slowly, and if the wires are swapped, then the DME will see that slow changing signal coming from the pre-cat sensor.

Will do... I'll drop it by the shop to see what they say

Thanks Ard for the headsup. I actually bought a OBDII scanner and resetted the code. I'll wait to see how long it will before it pops back up

Weasel will become famous soon enough
Most O2 codes on BMW's are actually not about the sensors themselves, but mixture faults. Odds are with the more free flowing exhaust the DME set a lean mixture fault. Hopefully the adaptations compensate for it and the code stays gone after clearing. If it comes back try to get a better, more accurate fault code reading by a code reader that does enhanced OEM fault codes. The difference in the information you get makes diagnosing 100% easier.
