2010 X5 3.0 xdrive radiator fan

I'm curious if anybody elses X5 does this.

When I start up the car, cold or hot, the radiator fan (or a fan up front) will kick on after about 5 seconds from when the car is started...then it will run for about 30 seconds then shut off. The fan is pretty loud too...

I'm just wondering if this is normal on all X5's? I thought usually the fan would kick on to cool the radiator but in this case, the car hasn't been on for over 8 hrs or so.
