Preventing Battery and Electrical issues in new '11 E70

With my 2007 & 2008 X5s, I had many battery and electrical issues. With the 2008, I eventually bought a BMW battery tender/trickle charger (although I think BMW should have paid for it!) I did not start using the battery charger on my '08 4.8i, until the low battery warnings began, and that seemed to set off a firestorm of constant and random electrical issues.

I've had my 2011 35d for about a month now (knock on wood / touch wood) and NO issues at all. None, just perfection.

While it irks me (actually pisses me off), but once a week, I have been placing the new 35d on the BMW battery charger at night, or on a Sat or Sun when I know I will not be driving the X5 for about a day or so!

Sadly, I think the 35d actually needs the charging! A few days ago, I put our '10 M6 on the charger, and within maybe 3-4 hours it showed a complete charge/ cycle complete. Each time I place the '11 35d on the same charger, it takes 24+ hours to show a full/complete charge.

I feel this should not be necessary, but it looks like BMW has not fixed the battery issue over the last 4 years. While it does piss me off, that I have to do this on a $70,000 luxury car, I also have had one month of no electrical issues, or any other problems!! Since the car is such a blast to drive, I love the diesel torque, the feel of the X5, the safety...I guess it is just a small price to pay to have a BMW!

like I mentioned in the other thread, I didn't touch the thing for 3 weeks and it started right up. It's just really random.

I have a 10 X5M and a 10 X5 M Sport. I took delivery of both of them in March last year. Haven't had a single battery issue.

The M sits for 2 to 3 weeks at a time; I jump in and it starts right up b

I did have some software issues on the M when I first got it.
But BMW fixed me up no problem since.

In my first 3 weeks , no issues. I had 3 major software issues in my E92. Then I had my alternator put out 16+ volts and fry a bunch of goodies. My car was in the dealer for over a week. I still don't think they ever fixed it. I went through 3 sets of HiD headlight bulbs. I hope my X5 is a bit more reliable, considering it cost me $20k more.
