Premium Sound System

Hello All,

I got my 2011 35d with the Premium sound system. I am a little confused. Should I be getting a new black usb connector cable that I used previously with my old 2008 X5. I thought that is the iPod and USB adapter?
Did anyone get a cable with the premium sound package.

Thanks.

My understanding is that a 2011 should support ipod out and there is no need for a cable. You just plug your apple cord into the USB port, there is no need for an adapater anymore.

I don't have first hand knowledge of this, I've just read about this....

He's correct, you just use your standard Apple cord and it works great (including displaying cover art on your iDrive screen)

Premium Sound

How is the sound on the Premium version? I have the Logic7 in my 335i and love it so I am curious if this is the same level of quality.

Thanks

So far its ok. I haven't gotten a chance to critically listen to the system as I only use the car on the weekend. However, the clarity is better than my 08 base system, but no where near my reference home stereo system.

For $1800 it should be much better, but with the crappy base system, I personally think it's a must have.
If BMW had retained the old 08 base system, I would not have upgraded.

Personally, I think the sound is great once the EQ settings are optimized. Far better than any Bose or Harmon Kardon I have had in previous BMWs, Porsches, Audis, and MBs.

Still hate the iDrive interface, however.

I agree on the iDrive, hate it. But there are some who love it.
