Parts Content
I imagine the principal source of parts are Germany (engine and transmission) and USA, but.. Where do most of the other parts come from? Such as, say.. Electronics, etc.? My Lexus said.. Parts Content: Japan 100% I realize there are, of course, MANY different suppliers from all over. I'm just curious if - not to put too fine a point on it - if there's any Chinese crap in my car. |

Some OEM wheels are made in Denmark, Mexico, Italy, etc. almost every different style OEM wheel is made somewhere different.
And there are suspension components made in Austria, some coils made in Tunisia, etc. There is stuff from all over in most vehicles nowadays, just all made to BMW's specs and covered by their warranty. BMW also uses planned redundancy for lots of components, for example if one brand coil fails often they switch to another.

The sticker says, US/Canada 35%, Germany 45%.
That leaves 20% for unknown. Engine and trans are Germany and of course final assembly is Spartanburg.

Obviously!
![]() I think the original problem was due in part to the lower lubrication level of ethanol containing fuels, and in part to the engineers inability to think they should have compensated for that in some way........ But at least they finally got pumps that work and don't seem to be failing anymore.

They are not expensive cars that require a huge hassle to the dealer, being told nothing is wrong, wait for it to break again, etc. |
