My 2011 X5 story... and pics

First of all here is a link to a bunch of my pics: 2010 BMW X5 X35d - a set on Flickr

So the story goes... We were on our way to get my wife a 3 series conv which she has wanted for a while and like all good husbands I wanted to get my wife what she wanted.

Well, we got to our local dealership and had a good friend who was an autobroker make a call to the Manager to help us out as much as he could...

Well, we get there and they had 4 3-series convs... we took the 328 for a ride and she was totally underwhelmed. It didn't have the type of get up and go we wanted. So we came back ... told the guy we didn't like it and they didn't have any 33x series which had the engine we wanted. He said I do have a 135 which has the twin turbo and a lot of M upgrades... She said she would take a look.

We had both had M3 convs in the past and loved the old style and both liked the soft top better than the new hard tops. We took this little rocket ship out and BANG... it flew it was the color she wanted and she was sold. We walked in to work out the deal. As we were.... we were walking around the lot and one of the other sales folks was talking to another couple about the white X5 35d and it was running... I asked was that the new diesel? he said yes.

I wasn't in the market at all... but there was a light choc color with an amazing interior next to it. The sales manager walked out with the keys and said take it for a ride. I said no... not in the market for an SUV. He said what would it hurt? Take it for a ride while you think about the 1 series. Well, he knew what he was doing. Bang, I fell in love with it, my wife loved it and we left with two new BMW's!!!

I have more pictures coming but take you will get an idea from the above link. I love this truck!

Congratulations! We weren't in the market at all either. Any yet, with that ginormous panarama sunroof and rocket-ship power, it's like a 4 door convertible with a huge trunk to spare!

My only warning...speed is absolutely effortless, so don't be surprised when you're going 20+ faster than you thought you were!

Have fun, and AWESOME pictures!!!

Great story, and this happens more often than you think. It has happened to us several times. Our stories:

Just going to looks at an SL...come home with an SL and SLK. Just going to look at a S-Class....come home with an S-Class and E-Class. Just going to look at a Z8 Alpina...come home with a Z8 and an M3!!!

Congrats. 35d and 135i. Very fun, smart and cool cars!!!
