there has to be room there. I am getting into a 2011 X5 50i w/5500 miles for $61500 out the door (includes tax tags).

Pass, buy new if you're spending that much.

That car should sell for 8-10k under invoice.

The price they have is MORE than a new 2011 will cost you.

Current invoice minus BMW incentive is $56,200. You can get one for 57k, maybe 57,200.

Hence, 47,200 is what you should pay for a used car with 10k miles.

Having said that, they WILL find someone to buy it...hopefully not you.

I'm going to take my time finding my next one...probably won't get this one. I'm too freaked out about buying used now. I kind of want to wait until the 2012 orders start and then get a 2011.

I still recommend you buy new, albeit the diesel's residual is slightly lower than its gasoline counterparts, the X5's relatively strong resell value should convince you to shoot for new. For me it's a no-brainer especially since you're buying so close to new, savings of used vs new is negligible.

What!?

You think you are going to find a new 2011 diesel and get a 'deal' on it once the 2012s are out?

Don't bother wasting your time. Every 2011 will sell within days of hitting a lot. (Heck, that used 11 with 10k miles will sell for close to new invoice pricing)

Just do your homework, find a dealer willing to do a deal at 500-1000 or so, and get a great new car.

IMO

Ard is right. They aren't begging people to buy X5's.

Yep, Kloogy & ard are right!

When I bought my '11 35d in Dec. 2010...my 35d had just arrived the day or two before. My salesman told me that X5s and 328i's sell REALLY fast. 328i's are "cheap" for BMW standards for those that must have a BMW and he said everyone wants an X5! I still cannot I got my 35d right off the lot. It is almost the exact car I would have ordered, and I can't believe the dealer ordered such a highly optioned 35d!!! The only option I do not have is the heated steering wheel...but the other goodies my 35d has, more than makes up for the wheel!!!
