I'd get the Dark Graphite (Platingrau) metallic. Space gray and Black Sapphire are exceedingly common. The Oyster interior looks nice with the Dark Bamboo wood trim. The Napa leather is a nice upgrade (the Nevada feels like leatherette) but I'd rather have a nice colour rather than nice leather I only feel when wearing shorts.

I like the Sport package but don't see the point of 20" wheels. The 19" look pretty nice, but that's just my opinion.

Based on my experiences with the base suspension, I strongly recommend an upgrade. In the US, this means Adaptive Drive.

I would go for the Napa leather dash, it is a very nice touch. I would also recommend the Rear Climate package since it's not much and privacy glass is useful along with the window shades.

The High Beam Assistant is useful if you live in a more rural area.

· Technology Package
· Cold Weather Package
· Comfort Access – No way I’m buying a BMW and having to stick a key in the dash.
· Heated Rear Seats – Keep the guests warm in the winter.
· 3rd Row Seat – I need a self leveling rear suspension for the boat in the summer.
·

Packages/Options on the Bubble or Dependent on Color Choice (i.e. Not offered with Oyster):
· Rear Climate Package – Wife really likes the pull up shades for the future baby. That being said I can buy a lot of the ones that stick to the window for $900.
· Sport Activity Package – I’m not a fan of the stock 18” rims. I really like the 20” rims but that means I have to spend $2,000 in order to spend another $900. But at $2,900 it’s probably cheaper (and includes more upgrades) then trying to buy them separately. This means I’ll have to buy winter rims and tires though next fall.
· Active Ventilated Seat Package – Gives me access to contour seats and the cooling feature would be really nice in the summer since the interior is all black.
· Multi Contour Seats – I can get these through the SAP or AVS. It’s neat but feels a bit over the top. I feel a bit pretentious asking my BMW to massage my butt while I’m driving. But then again with a MSRP pushing $70k loaded, this thing better be doing that and more.
· Napa Leather Package – I can get this through the Premium Package for the best price. Then I also have the Napa dash and center console. I sat in the Napa leather in a 7 series and LOVED the feel of this leather. Its butter smooth and makes the Nevada leather feel like borderline vinyl-leather. The big downside is I cannot get it in Oyster, Active Ventilated or means Multi-Contour is another $900, though I’m not completely sold on the multi-contour. Ideal scenario would be to have Napa with Active Ventilated Seats in Oyster.
· Napa Leather Dash – I could add this if I went with the Active Ventilated seats or Oyster. I think the leather and stitching provides a more expensive feel to the car (duh - because it is more money) but I like the look of the stitching.
· Auto High Beams – At only $250, I think it’d be nice to have and have a bigger convenience impact for the dollar spent.
· Carpeted Floor Mats – $165….blows my mind that $70k doesn’t include floor mats…am I missing something?
· All weather floor mats - $74…see above.

Packages/Options I like but probably won’t get due to the cost or cannot get:
· Heads-up display - At $1,300 its expensive and I see it being turned off more than it being on.
· Active Cruise Control – Not available on the diesel! Cannot believe it, I really like that feature.
· Space saving spare – I’m hosed in the winter or if I switch the 20” rims from RFT. Cannot get this because of the 3rd row seat
· Smart Phone Integration – We have android based phones that I don’t believe BMW supports. Not only that, can’t I have the Bluetooth port over the music from my phone? Then I already own a plug in charger for the phone. Just doesn’t seem necessary anymore.
· Side View Cameras – Were not that expensive for the impact when I say them on the inline 6. BUT not offered on the diesel. Not sure why.
I like your package option choices...I had Space Grey on my 550 and X6 and loved it -- you can see my X6 live on the BMW Mtka floor..I would go Space Grey on Oyster..

You know how I feel about 20's....

I like the space grey, have it on my 535, but it is more common now than it was three years ago. Would still consider it. Dark graphite is an alternative worth considering. I was just trying to not have another silver car. Black interior. Oyster looks great, but would be high maintenance. Do they still do the navy blue as a special option? Looks very good with space grey.

Strong recommendation to get the multi-contour seats. I would skip the ventilation and massage options on them though.

See if your dealer will throw in carpet floor mats. Mine always does. US dealers don't always do so, it depends how hard you worked them on price.

Auto high beams/HUD/Active Cruise/Cameras I would skip.

Adaptive Drive has received good reviews. I haven't test driven it. I would do so before ordering a vehicle where it was an option, though.

· Technology Package - Yes, an after market nav looks cheap in an expensive vehicle and it works OK. I really like the top view and rear view cameras.
· Cold Weather Package - Yes for the heated wheel, I miss that with M Sport.
· Comfort Access – No way I’m buying a BMW and having to stick a key in the dash. Agree, spoiled by it.
· Heated Rear Seats – Keep the guests warm in the winter.
· 3rd Row Seat – I need a self leveling rear suspension for the boat in the summer.

It might reduce the sticky feeling on a hot day but I've never felt I needed it, even in a southern climate, and went for the Nappa instead.
· Multi Contour Seats – I can get these through the SAP or AVS. It’s neat but feels a bit over the top. I feel a bit pretentious asking my BMW to massage my butt while I’m driving. But then again with a MSRP pushing $70k loaded, this thing better be doing that and more. Definitely. They don't include massage unless you go with the AVS but the comfort and adjustability are well worth the cost.

I gotta agree with some of these guys --

Multicontour Seats are the VERY BEST seats I have owned and highly recommend them.

I personally really, really like what the sports appearance package adds to the final look....I don't know if I could ever live w/out an anthracite headliner with most interior colors

I've never had hud -- but those that have sure seem to like it...

Comfort access? Like it a lot - had it on my 6'er, but not worth a grand to me...

My X5 has not been delivered quite yet. But, I thought I would chime in with my 2 cents ...

· Active Ventilated Seat Package – Gives me access to contour seats and the cooling feature would be really nice in the summer since the interior is all black. I had cooled seats on my previous car. Great novelty. Feels like you wet your pants. Never used it.

Auto High Beams – At only $250, I think it’d be nice to have and have a bigger convenience impact for the dollar spent. My wife has this on her SUV. I thought it would be useless but I really like it. I live in a rural area.

Heads-up display - At $1,300 its expensive and I see it being turned off more than it being on. Wife has it. I hate it. It distracts me. I prefer to look at the dash.

· Active Cruise Control – Not available on the diesel! Cannot believe it, I really like that feature. I had it on previous vehicle. Another novelty. Great to use from time to time. Hated it on four lane highway; car goes by you, comes into your lane, you slow down. Arrgghh. And it wouldn't work well when the sensor is dirty or when driving in the direction of the sun. I never used it.

Side View Cameras – Were not that expensive for the impact when I say them on the inline 6. BUT not offered on the diesel. Not sure why. In Canada, I'm quite sure the SV cameras are on the diesel. The demonstrator I drove had it. I can let you know for sure in a week. I expect to have it on mine.

You will probably have made a deal by the time you've read this.

I was on the fence about getting the HUD but I am very glad I did. It makes using the Nav system easier. Most of the time when using the Nav I leave the sound off and just look at the HUD for directions. I turn on the sound only when I get close to the destination. I like not having to listen to the Nav sound all of the time.
