Damage to black plastic bumper

I left my car in a garage and it looks like they bumped into something. A small area of the black plastic bumper on the lower front right corner is pushed in (about fist sized). Is this something that a body shop can push back out or will it need to be replaced? Nothing is cracked or broken. I have an appointment with my dealer's body shop on Friday, but don't want to go in there without some information.

I attached a picture to show the area that was damaged (not my car).

Thanks for any help.

any textured plastic can not be repaired.
you have very limited option with that. either sand the whole bumper and re-texture paint whole bumper or get a new one. cost around $600 from dealer.

i had the same damages on both my front and rear, ended up color matched everything in my body color. looks way better!!!

* if ur body shop can use heat gun push the dent out without any damage to the textured surface. u will be just fine.

Why would I have to sand and repaint a piece that isn't cracked? Shouldn't it be the same as pulling a dent?

The body shop can pop the plastic dent right out. shouldn't pay more than 100 for it.

It will depend on the damage- simple depression of the surface can be popped out, perhaps heat, etc. Depends also on what is behind it at that point and anything damaged behind it.

If the surface is scratched or abraded, you either live with it (my vote in NYC) or replace the bumper skin.

I think you should buy an aero kit and that will cover the damage and look awsome!!. If you are gonna pay, its time to upgrade.

^ hey nice pic.

yeah they damaged my aero kit before and they did some magic on it like they do to the other body parts like above the black bumper... not sure if that's better or worse than having scuffed black bumpers though.

The dealer's body shop said the part needs to be replaced despite the fact nothing is cracked or broken on it and estimated it at ~$1,100 including labor. They want $740 for the part alone, which I found online already for $420.

What is the best place online to buy BMW parts? I can just buy the part and replace it myself.

getbmwparts.com

It is actually a division of Tischer BMW in Maryland, but they just run an 'internet only' oepration (ie they have a regular dealership, with stupid BMW dealer prices...but log onto getbmwparts.com and it is wholesale to the public' (almost))

Good guys, email only- no phones...but good service and very deep inventory
