Sirius presets not saving

Whenever I try to hit "Store" for any station in my SAT option, it jumps to Presets and says "No entries available".

Any ideas?

I have the same problem with mine Just tradded in a 2000 x5 with 150,000. I got a '08 with 35,000. Its been in the shop for two weeks almost. Had front end noise. Just got a email this morning they replaced one strut and going to replace the other strut. Sat radio presets work on my wifes key but when i use my key the screen is blank. I did a little research and found if i pull the fuse to the radio my presets come back but after ten min the screen goes blank. The consol got down to 44 degrees. They repaired the a kinked vent line. The engine would hesitate from a start. Dealer could not reproduce yet. Almost feel i shiuld have just keeped my '00. I hope this trans is better than the old one.

Congrats on the purchase wpl11972. I have the same 08 X5 but with plenty more miles (78k) - yours is a baby so possibly still going thru its teething stages.

I am assuming your full warranty is still active - milk it as much as you can.
I dont have the gracious warranty anymore and boy this car sucks the living soul out of your wallet. I've already had the following issues:

- Mechatronic sleave leaking: replaced by my indy, $500
- Electric water pump failure: replaced by my indy, $1000
- Transfer case thud during warm startups - waiting till it dies, since i don't have $3K to spare at this moment, my indy will get a used one when its dead.
- Tires (RFT) went out at 20k, replaced them with non RFT: $800
- Drivers side window seals squeaks: I turn the music up as a solution
- Rear hatch knocks: I have to adjust it someday when I get time.
- Drivers side mirror has a mind of its own, it has a ripple so its defective. It is warming and auto dimming so replacement will be about $170 - I deal with it for now.
- Battery is coming to end of life soon since BMW only lasts freaking 4 years... save another $400 for that sucker.
- Drives worse than my old 06 E53, I wish I kept that till today. It felt always on rails and I could confidently speed and change lanes. With the E70, it feels like the wind will blow it away to the next lane.....

Sorry for the rant but Old is gold to me, the newer BMW's are great till the warranty expires then we are all on our own as the dealer screws us!

Tires, water pump, leaks and battery are not mechanical breakdowns--those are wear and tear iitems on any vehicle. If you have 80K miles on a 4 year old car that's considered more than the average mileage for it's age. Only thing to me that is a major issue is that Transfer Case.

OP: sounds like it might be a remote control/memory thing. Hard to tell.

Yes the car is still under warranty until Sept of this year. And its under CPO until sept 2014 so i have awhile to go. The one thing i didnt like about the car is that the front fenders are plastic. Cheap to me. i havent had the car very much its been in the shop longer than i had it. The dealer is taken good care of me. I can do alot of work myself when the car is out of warranty. I did purchase a tire warranty thru BMW on tires it ran about $1100.00 for five years on run flats. The back tires are brand new. The first gen X was solid and had it Quarks but yes it drove very well.

your Sat module is probably bad. i have had since new some weird Sat issues. just last week one of the more annoying quirks went all wonky on me. the outputs cycle.

Sat to Cd to FM to voice command. real annoying when on the interstate.

I had the same issue after Sirius upgraded their channel lineup last year. Brought it into the dealership and they have to reprogram my keys with the key. That fixed the issue.

The dealer emailed me back about the Sat radio. Their was a service bulletin. not sure what was the fix maybe a software upgrade. The front end noise was the front sway bar. I got two new struts out of it. Cant wait to get home from Vacation and drive it.

Hmm, I wonder if this will mess up my coding - if it will, I can live with the preset annoyance.

In the report they pulled a fuse. I think they reset the radio. All presets working on both keys.
