I owned a 2007 RRSS silver with black interior..... The supercharged engine was great on open h'way but the technology, handling and available options were waayyyy behind my 2007 4.8i. The RR is great for off road capabilities but here in NY.... not handy at all.... and my service experience was horrible..... the employees were pleasant but lacked information. The mechanics always offered to do work for slightly cheaper on the weekends in their own private garages and the loaner cars were low-end toyotas or subarus from a hertz rental (which "accidentally" charged my credit card $250).
The new RR looks great but the entire experience left me with a sour taste.... BMW service at Pace BMW is exceptional.

My '06 RR Sport Supercharged spent almost 2 months in the shop, the 4 months I owned it. I bought it on a Saturday night, and it was flat bedded to Range Rover Service early Monday morning! This continued for 4 months. I cannot tell you how many times the damn thing left me stranded (downtown L.A. :-o, in the rain, on the freeway....). The interior was a plastic mess, bluetooth and navi/entertainment was a hot mess....

My 2008 Range Rover was much, much better than my '06, but still not great. I kept it like 6 month maybe, and for 3 of those months I had to wait for parts to come from the UK, so the dealership could fix my steering wheel (no joke, it would automatically go all the way down and literally pin my legs to the driver seat!!!). Sometimes I could self adjust the wheel back up, either with using seat Memory or using the little electric stalk on the side of the steering wheel...sometimes I had to drive, with my legs pinned down (and try using the steering wheel in the lowest position...not easy)!

The 2010/2011 looks amazing though, and our 2011 Full Size Rover Supercharged has been 100% FLAWLESS (4 months, 5000 miles). I mean literally NOT one problem, or concern!!!

Car's show problems within hours, let alone, days, weeks, months. I stand by Range Rover!

Great to know, we also have many RRs in the Family, and have had great luck with them.

Owning a car for a few months with no problems doesn't warrant it "good reliability". You are in the 1% of sample size of owner statistics.

Just test drove one tonight.

Like:
  • Color combos and options.
  • Leather in the lux package (BMW Nappa equivalent but with more color options than just tan and black)
  • Throttle response and acceleration (non-SC version)
  • Accent door lighting was way cool
  • Liked the flow through center console and the comfort of the seats
  • 20" rims are nice in the Lux pkg
  • Liked that the trailer hitch is hidden and the tow rating is higher than BMW which gives me more tow cushion
  • Brakes were superb
Dislike:
  • MPG of 12/17 is a deal breaker for me
  • Lack of pano roof
  • No self closing rear hatch
  • Lack of self dimming side mirrors
  • While adaquate for a screen size, the nav screen felt small when comparing it to the BMW
  • Disappointed that it didn't have auto cruise as an option
  • Terrain knob also felt cheap
  • Highway road noise was louder than BMW
  • Handling not as balanced as BMW but sufficient for an SUV

"The M offers only speed. The RRS offers speed, serious off road capabilities and of course prestige"

Yeah I disagree with that statement as well. How many high-end SUVs are taken off the road. And Land Rover has just the same prestige as any of the premium brands like Merc, BMW, etc.

LOL @ "prestige". Range Rover is prestige. Range Rover Sport is not - it's built on Land Rover LR3 platform (doesn't mean it's bad - I owned LR3 for 2.5 yrs and loved it) and nowhere near the luxury status of the real Range Rover.

The above is not meant to question RRS qualities as a vehicle... although I wonder what you feel when you try to corner this seriously overweight vehicle or how far off-road those high-performance tires will take you.
