19" OEM: Widest Tire

What's the widest tire we can put on our stock oem 19"?

I believe from the m sport 19" wheels are staggered and 19x9 and 19x10 in the rears. Hope this helps !

i mean tire size. it came with 255. i'm pretty sure we can fit at least 275 or 285. but not sure if we can even go wider.

They are 285's on the m-sport 19's.

It depends what wheels you have on the car also. As there are different width 19s. 211 212 and 334s are 9in wide front and back, 213 and 335s are 9 at the front and 10 at the rear. Depending on what version of the E70 you have and what packages you have you could have any of these wheels as "stock".

I have a similar question, I got 19" sports package, and they look pretty wide to me, (255) and I am wondering how wide I can go? All 4 tires are of same size currently.

It is a pretty simple exercise:

1. Find out the rim width.
2. Look at the tire specs for various model tires you might want.
3. Each tire size will spec a 'minimum rim width'. ID the largest profile in that tire model that will fit on your width rim.
4. Also look at the overall diameter of the stock size and compare it to the size you find. An upsize of 0.5" is OK, you will have some tradeoffs. As long as all 4 are the same size, no ill effects will result.
5. Lay on the gound, look at the stock tires, and make sure you'll have no rubbing at the lock extremes. Lots of clearance IMO, so should be OK with the stock rims.

Or you can ask total strangers and see what they say, maybe believe the most persuasive and make a mistake.....

Thanks ard, as always. However, how do I find the rim width? is it written somewhere in the vehicle, on rim? my SA don't know about it, and he hasn't got an answer from the services guy either.

So I am like either go get 20" rims and put Conti DWS on them, or use the same 19" stock I currently got on them and get the wider tires, which I believe would be far cheaper solution.

Should be stamped on the inside of the rim. Pretty sure the 19" OE rim is 9" with a 255/50-19 tire

That tire is 29.1" in diameter. Same as a 285/45-19 in a pirelli Scorp.

I have 335's that came stock on my X5 35d w/sport package. They're 9" all the way around. However, there is indeed a 10" version that you can get for the back. Also, there is an X5 brochure running around somewhere that says that the 35d is supposed to come with the 335 staggered setup -- too bad they didn't actually put them on the car.
