You may want to consider looking at the Weather liners. They are much better.

Not sure if this works but I hate the look of the car with the rubber floor mats, I figured after every winter I will just buy a set of the carperted floor mats, they are about $200 I think. Its probably a pure waste of money but the X5 just looks beautiful with the original floormats. The X5 makes my other car feel like a piece of ****. Many here will probably say "captain obvious" LOL.

I use the WeatherTech mats, purchased from (and branded by) BMW
Perfect for winter and bad conditions. The carpeted ones are of course much nicer but don't hold any slop - and when you're in and out of the truck with salty slush and snow on your boots you need whatever protection you can get.
