2008 x5 4.8i newbie
new to board, in process of getting the 2008 x5 4.8i sport --- 41l miles CPO'd car... BMW has special to extend to full maintenance, BUT you don't get the better rate , instead of 4.99 it's 6.74% .. sound right? or i can go with $500 off payment for first 3 months, again have to take different rate reliability of car... see some stories about not rerliable, others say its great, any informative post i can read? car will have full warranty CPO & Maintenance until 03/17/2014 -- so i have full 3 years, i may suck up rate just for comfort of warranty! thoughts? thank you bob |

The CPO warranty is 'good', but it is not nearly as comprehensive as the orig warranty; just be aware. You do have ~9k miles left on orig warranty.
The 'maintenance' extension may cover another set of brakes/pads and an oil change or two, if you drive enough between now and < 3 yrs from now. But, it tends to be pricey. No clue on the finance angle for that, other than it reads like they will jack your rate if you take the 'maintenance', which they have actuaried to a T, imo. You might squeeze in a set of pads/rotors under existing oe warranty and maintenance... 'Reliabilty': you may/will get a dozen replies, some say great, some say so-so... Search Tab upper right corner of page is your friend, for some reading on any topic, eg: Xoutpost.com - Search Results My 50Cts... GL, mD

If you plan to finance it over a few years, low APR would be your best choice.
I went for the low APR instead of the the maintenance. I think the extended maintenance plan was around ~$2000. Like MD^ said, most likely you'll just get one brake pad change, 2 oil changes, 1 wiper change. |

I paid for my extended maintainence on my 05 X5. It cost me $1250 at that time (was negotiable). It was well worth it as I got 3 oil changes and 2 brake pad changes, with new rotors on the second brake job. The X is a heavy vehicle and goes through brakes faster then a lighter car.
