Homelink Mirror Install

Hey guys, I just got a auto dim homelink mirror in the mail. I installed the mirror but the default wire harness is only for the alarm light. I think i need to order the retro fit harness. Is there anyway to tap into the sunroof motor instead of running the wires to a fuse box? I have search all over and cent seem to find a diy on tapping into the sunrood motor wires. I will take a picture tomorrow of the wires going into the motor. If anyone has done this can you please let me know which wires i have to splice?

Thanks!

Let me know if you ever get an answer to this. I got the Base Model 2012 xDrive35i (July delivery) and would also like to get that done if possible. Really odd that it isn't included as part of the Convenience package, or at least available as an additional option on the Base model. Is that really a "Premium" only type of option?!

My service advisor told me he thought all X5s were pre-wired. My was not. They used a retro fit kit and charged me 2 hrs labor. Total $300.00, good thing I only paid $100.00 for the mirror instead of the $600+ that the dealer wanted. All in all a very expensive upgrade but not having 3 remotes on the visor is priceless.....and the dimming feature is great.

I installed it on a 2007 x5. Not sure of the part number. I got it on ebay, where there are tons of them.
