it can be done. There is a thread about this about 6 months back. White X5 with bull horns on the grill. They said it took some time to prep the flares(smooth) but after that it is std way you paint flexable plastic parts.

Would the M package flares from the 2012 X5 35i fit on a 2010 X5 35D?
(since they are already painted...)

Actually, wasn't there 2010 M-Sport flares for the 3.0 and the 4.8....wouldn't they fit on a 35d?
(even with Running Boards on...)
