X5 M Sport with running boards

Hi everyone, I have just placed an order for my first X5 and opted for the M Sport version. I am just concerned about the "road rash" that has been discussed in many other threads. Mudflaps are an option but they look horendous on the M Sport. The only other option is a set of running boards.

I know not everyone likes them (for various reasons) but I quite like the look. My concern is just whether the running boards and the slightly wider wheel arch flares of the M Sport will meet up properly and the ends? Has anyone done something like this that can comment and perhaps post some pics, peferably on a light coloured verhicle (white/silver etc) so I can see what it looks like?

Thanks
