Yeah, what is this? I've driven in CA since 1992, and never had one of these!!!

NY State Inspection is $34 or $39 flat. Can't remember exactly. I know it's a pain in the ass.

Especially because most of the authorized inspection shops don't even do the full inspection and just make sure your lights work and there are no CEL's and that's that. Although, when I had my old M3, it worked out well in my favor for a couple of years.

deutsch, that battery issue would just drive me nuts!! All my cars have been immobile for at least 3 weeks (with no charger) at some point, and started up fine.

Hope you get everything resolved soon.

And this state inspection: are these for cars sold in a different state than where they are to be registered?

Well, my 2007 and 2008 E70 REALLY had battery issues. Seriously, just leaving the door open or the rear hatch to unload groceries, or vacuum the car would result in either a warning for battery discharge, or actually a dead battery.

This is the FIRST time this has happened with my 2011 E70. I've had it almost 7 month, and now 5000 miles on the odo. Hopefully it will not be a persistent problem!!

I don't believe bmw maintenance plan covers the cost of the inspection. They will perform the service but charge you for it. They will however, fix/replace anything from the inspection without cost. (ie, windshield wipers, lights, etc)

If you do your annual inspection during the same time as your annual service, it works out quite well.

no problems with our 35d. Starts right up every time even when parked for over a week at the airport.

Had the same issue, replaced a negative cable with associated chipset.

what the tech told me was that main ecu was not shutting down because it was not receiving feedback from both sides of the battery.

i had a 9amp key off draw!

It is good to see that there are some limits to BMW denying a problem exists!

Well, today is going to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Drove the X5 a lot on Friday, but not on Saturday at all. Started it up this morning (no problems, no warning lamps or messages), BUT....

Seat Memory, Mirrors, Steering wheel memory GONE
Satellite Presets & FM/AM stations GONE
Programmed Daytime Running lamps (angel eyes) GONE
Blinker settings (one touch, 3 flashes) GONE
Audible Chirp when locking/unlocking GONE

You get the idea. Everything was just erased. But time was correct and date was correct. HVAC was on, but set itself to 60F.

I must have the E70 curse!! This is #3 for me, and all BAD
