Wheel Options X5 50

Looking at a 2012 50 and I am not thrilled with the 20 inch wheel options. I do like the style 214's offered on the 35 SAV. Can I order a 50 with the 214's or do the dealers prohibit this ?

The 2011 X5 50 w/ Sport package loaner I had for a couple of weeks had 20" 214's on it so I would assume that you should be able to get 214's but then again BMW has some pretty funky rules on trying to substitute items in the build for other items.

Dealer says no go can't get the 214's on a new 50.

Question: When you add the 20 inch option to a 50 or a 35 does the factory install larger flares? Comparing a build with 19s looks a little different than a build with 20's . The build with the 20's seems to have bigger flares.

Can anyone confirm this?

I am thinking about order a 50 with 19's and then buying (214) 20's for a sweet summer set up. Will I need to buy flares as well?

All true.

Extended flares come with 20" wheel option only though they can be purchased and installed. You only need some plastic rivet tool to do it right (search for a post by DaRip)

If you don't like the 20s, get the 19s with all seasons, then buy a set of 214 reps with summer rubber and get the flares. I have purcahsed a set of 214 reps for my wife's X5 but had winter rubber put on. They look great. Best of all worlds (unless you get the 20s like I did and buy X6M reps with winter tires Then you are big 20 ballin all the time

Pulled the trigger on a 2012 50 today.. decided to go with the stock 20's I'll keep em or try to sell them..

Went with:

Sport, Premium, Premium Sound, Cold, Technology, "Comfort Seats", 3rd Row, Rear Entertainment, and Adaptive Drive.

Can't wait.

Will add this to my 2003 X5 4.6..

The factory won't do the 214's but your dealer can always switch them out there with a 35i or 35d if they have any in stock if they really wanted to help you.

Keeping the 03 4.6, so I will now have 4 sets of rims. 2 sets of summer 20s and two sets of winter snows. The things we do for our BMWs.
