First Time Owner / E70 3.0si
Just had to post to the site. First time owner / buyer of a 2008 E70 3.0si. I wanted to find out what kind of "cool" things first time owners would want to tweak on their X5s. Been looking at the smaller tweaks, LED lights and the Angel Eyes for now... What say you guys? |

Congrats on the car.
I won't chide you with the typical computer nerd "search" response.... So, if I know something I'll post a response. 1.) I just swapped out all the interior bubls with LED. At first, my only intent was to swap the hatch lights to improve the lighting, but the bug got to me and I swapped all the interior lights. You have two options: 1.) A straight bulb replacement, it's a T10 or 194 bulb for most of the lights. Front Doors - 2 Bulbs (ideally side firing) Front feet - 2 Bulbs (ideally side firing) Front Map/Dome - 3 bulbs (2 directional, 1 all around) Rear Doors - 2 Bulbs Rear Feet - 2 Bulbs Rear Map/Dome - 4 Bulbs (diodes all around) Rear Hatch - 2 Bulbs Sunvisor lights - 2 bulbs (festoon, I didn't replace thse yet) 2.) Swap the entire housing for a 18 diode Kaibird LED light. This yields the most lumens. I put these in the rear hatch and love it. I personally think they are too bright for the footwells but others seem to like it. |

I was hardly scolding the OP. I simply stated that if they searched, they would be able to find many answers to this question. I'm not sure about you, but I'd much rather search my question and get answers "now" rather than post it and wait for people to reply "later." Especially since so many people have answered OP's questions before that they may not even bother to click because they have the same mentality that I have. Also, isn't that one of the main points of a forum? To serve as a sort of knowledge base to allow people to search the archives of people's exact problems, issues, concerns, questions, etc? |
