Sway bar replacement

Hi All,

I have a 2007 X5 4.8. For the past few weeks now, I've had a power steering fluid leak. So I brought it to three different repair shops and each said I have a leak in my front sway bar and I was quoted 2k - 2.5k (p+l) to replace it. Has anyone experienced the same problem and if so did you have to replace the entire sway bar since it only appears to be leaking from a part in the middle, which apparently isn't sold separately from BMW anymore?

Does anyone have a DIY on this, and is it worth the trouble, or should I pay to have work done? Frankly, I'm not surprised that it costs this much to replace coming from BMW, but I was really hoping for an alternative considering I have less than 45k miles on it and warranty just ran out this past March.

Appreciate any input.
Thanks
