Sour grapes???
The point is, no matter what you do to a 2.5 ton "truck" it's still going to be a truck. A proper sports car is light weight with a strong and powerful motor. A proper sports car is not a 2.5 ton Bentley Continental..... Those cars are for major DB's and Paris Hilton, but whatever floats your boat....and The M treatment shouldn't be done to trucks and Porsche shouldn't sell the Cayenne.... |

I would bet that our Sport SAV would surprise a lot of so called sports car owners on a twisty road. And downright shock typical SUV owners.
I did the Tail of the Dragon in my mere X5 50i and could play all day long with the big boys (M3, M5, M6, etc). I was certainly quicker than a 550hp CTS-V Coupe in our group.

We all have driven that road many times. The X5 is closer to sports car handling than you would think. Here shows the X5 has less lean in the turns than my Z4 35i! Both shots were from the TOD. BTW, I was pushing the X5 hard enough to get a little rear wheel drift at times. It would be fun to try that on track full DSC off.

Just for everyone's info, I want to reiterate that I love my BMW's, the only issue I had was my E53 4.8IS seemed more sport than the E70 does. I am putting on some new tires tomorrow ANY RECOMENDATIONS ARE WELCOME
Love both, just not as impressed thinking 4.8 sport package to sport package would be the same. To whomever mentioned the X5's are not sport vehicles, I run semi-pro race series in a factory race car, I would put my 06 E53 against most any run of the mill "sports cars" you want to compare. That car had/has attitude and the suspension to match! I loved that car so much, I may buy it back!

To put the wheels from an e53 onto an e70 you actually need to bore out the wheels.. The hub is larger on the e70. I'm pretty sure a rim repair shop could take care of that for you!
