Km/h Speedometer Dial

Hi Guys,

i just bought an X5 and will export it. The speedometer dial is in Mph and Kph.

Do you know of anyone that offers a new speedometer bezel for the e70 that has Km/h only? Is it difficult to fit it?

Just ask your dealer in the UAE to do it...can't imaging it would be more than $2500....

Seriously, I've heard stories of blatant gouging and punitive pricing by dealers in the middle east when you do not buy locally.

I don't require to change the speedometer to Km/h only but would like to do it for aesthetic reasons.

I thought it would just be possible to change the cluster cover. I didn't want to change the whole unit. $2,500 is much more than i would be willing to pay. If i give a to a dealer here, i will surely get ripped off :-) I wanted to only change the cover with the printing which would maybe be a couple hundred bucks...

Sorry guys, i worded it wrongly. I want to change the dial face of the speedo, as everything else is correct.

Where could i get an oem quality dial face?

My point is that you should PRAY that NOTHING EVER goes wrong with your import.

I've heard stories of dealers charging thousands of dollars just to 'enroll' an imported car and agree to work on them. Like programming a new key- 200 for the key, 2500 to enroll.

yep that can happen. I luckily know a great Indi Shop (Specialized in BMW) who can do most of my work and the car won't have to go to the stealership :-)

I know it doesn't really help, but for info purposes

- in Russia (where A LOT of US X5 and X6's end up) it costs b/w $150-$200 to replace the speedo dial.

appreciate the price update. That was the range i would expect the dials to be. The problem is that i need to find a vendor that sells the new dial in very good quality....

Hey Guys,

i found a full used Km/h Cluster that i will buy.

Can i just change it, and it will take all new info from the ECU or does it need to be coded to the car to be working? The switch of the full cluster seems very easy.
