Took in my X5 for one last service job and

had a few things replaced before the warranty is up the second week of November.
1. New pads and rotors on rear
2. new pads in front.( had rotors changed about 10k ago)
3. new emblem in rear for slightest chip
4. steering wheel had slighest peel so they gave me a new piece( 2nd time)
5. oil change
6. micro filter
7. brake fluid replaced
8. new tires ( I paid for)
------
2 months ago or so
I had my radiator replace with hoses
front emblem replaced
was given new running boards
..
I pretty happy with everything. Anything else i should ask to be checked before warranty runs up?

Im at 48,500 with 6 weeks to go..I forgot to mention my brake fluid light came on so that was another reason for service. The main reason was i needed new tires in the front. Only my 2nd time I bought new tires. I bought 2 used ones in the past because I wanted all the tires to match either in the front or rear.Paid $50 ea.for the used ones and they were great.I had 3 tires in the past with nails in them but I had bought the tire protect. Best move I ever made.

I would like to get warrannty but not a $3K. I wont be using as much the X5 since I bought a new toy: 12" Mustang GT

I was not aware that BMW condoned replacing pads and not rotors... If they were paying the $$ I'd put up a stink

When i was under warranty, i did put up a stink to get them to replace rotors also. Honestly, all you have to do is ask, and they will do it

Most idiots dont know the difference, so bmw can get away with it

Rotors were measured but were not under spec. Were 18.7
below spec is 18.1

I seem to recall that per BMWs published procedure, they require rotors and pads to be replaced as one-

BMW has ridiculous long service intervals and relys on the their stupid 'ON Board Monitoring' system which cannot track your rotor AND pad thicknesses (or their service interval), and this will result in your lilkely blowing past the minimum rotor thickness prior to any notice that the pads are low or need checking. You may be at 18.7 now but due to how BMW has designed and specified their service/maintenance processes your reliance on this rotor check instead of the rotor replacement may result in a safey issue, which is why they are supposed to replace these as a set.

Also, $3k for a warranty? Gold? Not a bad price. Although the only item on your first post that would be covered by an extended warranty is the radiator.

Do you plan on using the dealer for maintenance one the plan runs out? Find an indy and save half.
