Hello all, great forum! I have appreciated the info extracted from the posts I have searched through so far. I have not found this info from a search, so here goes:
I have an 08 X5, no comfort access. A few times I have left the key in the ignition with the family inside, gotten out to run in the store or gas up, have come back out the car to have the wife unlock from the inside. When she does this, I can open the door fine, but immediately once I do, the locking mechanism falls back to the lock position and prevents me from closing the door! The door slams the locking pin against the post as if the door had been locked already. The only fix once this occurs is to open the door from the inside handle which allows me to close it. This has occured with both front doors and the gas tank. Has this been discussed before or is this an isolated case of a bad locking selonoid? I will take it to the dealer for warranty, but afraid they won't be able to replicate the problem when there. It has only occured a few times.
