2012 On the way!

First off....Hello Everyone! I am new to this site.

Just ordered a 2012 X5, Carbon Black Metallic, 5.0i, M-sport Pkg, 333 Wheels, Tech Pkg., etc.,Oyster Int.

This will be replacing the 550 we are now finding is a little too small with our 10 month old. We had an X5 (04 model) previously that we really liked and I'm glad to be getting another.

To come.... Dinan performance package, but i will wait until the Stage 2 comes out to see what it offers. I was glad to see most are extremely happy with the Stage 1.

I have instructed the dealer (from my detailers instructions) not to wash, wax, polish, or otherwise do anything to the car after it is delivered. The detailer (Bryan Burnworth) said the dealerships do more damage to the finish than they do good. He will make it show car beautiful as he always does.

I will post pictures when it arrives and has been "beautified".

Glad to be a part of this site.

David

Great choice of exterior color. Oyster interior is great but a challenge to maintain with little kids.

That is a good idea to not have the dealer wash the X5. I have a lot of fine scratches on my BSM because it was on the lot.

I was VERY surprised when I was looking over the new cars on the lot at how many of them had holograms, and swirl marks from being detailed.

That's great news to hear. What kind of mileage are you guys seeing in the 5.0 so far.

I haven't actually checked the mileage, but I think it was over 20 mpg on the highway with the cruise set at 75.

Good call. I've done that on my car as well. And I never let them 'detail' my car when it is in for service.

Even worse is they use liquid wax, so the car looks OK when you pick it up- but quickly you will see the defects when the wax filler wears off.
