No X5 at LA Car Show

WTH?

Response was (with female teutonic accent) "There was no changes to 2012, so we did not bring that model"

Gee, everyone else brought their SUV/SAV/whatever's to look at.

No diesels at all. The program said the 335d was supposed to be there too.

Heard from a lot of folks that were disappointed in the BMW display.

Bad form BMW.

(new M5 looked good though)

Perhaps not in your eyes but for BMW the e70 x5 is a old car and won't get any press coverage.

And while the 335d was available in 2011, for the new 2012 3 series the diesel has been dropped. I gather it wasn't worth BMW certifying it for North America considering the very low volumes they sold.

Is the car show for the press or for the public to see all the vehicles in one place? We the public pay to see, press don't.

It was sad not being able to see the X5, or a good 3'er

IMO The M5 bumper looked a bit similar to the M3's.

I had the same response

I pretty much had the same response... "oh well, I guess it shows me what they think of my X5 that they can't bring one out."

Of course, Lambo, Ferrari, and Maserati (sp) weren't there either, so maybe the x5 was just too good for the show

The Charlotte show had 2 X5s and a $107K 650i, plus a 458 and a Maserati but no M5 or i8.

I thought it was very strange as well. No X5 of any type; just an X6 and an X3. Given the popularity of the X5 in the Los Angeles area, and the introduction of the new
MB ML at the show, it was surprising to see BMW abandon their representative in the luxury SUV market well over a year - maybe two - before the debut of the next generation.

Also strange that there were no new 3-series models at the show. I assume the US debut will be at Detroit instead. But an odd choice, since the 3-series was made popular in this country by So Cal yuppies.

Thanks, it's hard to belive its up to 4k views.

OT: What will likely happen is that the 3rd gen X5 will be shown in the maybe 2 yrs.

I think it was a bit early for the 3'er to be shown, given it just recently went into early production.

I still get sad when manufactors bring such amazing cars (M3/M5), but you cant even go in them. The only bad side to open cars it is that the seats get soooo dirty and sometimes things "dissapear" and kids go nuts in them.

It was a bit confusing though, you can sit in the rare $127K aplina, but not the $80K M3 .
